Rosario

The most simple and direct means with which popular piety has taught us to invoke the mercy of God through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary is by praying the Rosary.  For this reason, every evening during the jubilee year the Rosary will be recited at 18:00 in front of the Statue of Saint Peter in Saint Peter's Square.  It will be led by various parishes in Rome, Religious Institutes and Confraternities.  We will let ourselves be led - as pilgrims- by the maternal gaze of her who was first to experience the mercy of the Father "turning towards the lowliness of his handmaid".

The attention of this Holy Year, therefore, will be turned in a particular way toward the Mother of Mercy.  To arrive at the tenderness of the Father, we pass through the gaze and maternal love of Mary.  In number 24 of the Bull Misericordiae Vultus the Pope says, "No one has penetrated the profound mystery of the incarnation like Mary. Her entire life was patterned after the presence of mercy made flesh. The Mother of the Crucified and Risen One has entered the sanctuary of divine mercy because she participated intimately in the mystery of His love."
